Parent Notification Guide

This guide explains the various notifications that parents and guardians receive from the school system. Understanding these notifications will help you stay informed about your child's activities, schedule changes, and important school communications.

Event-Based Notifications

These notifications keep you informed about school events, performances, and schedule changes.

1. Event Scheduling

You will receive notifications when:

  • Lessons, performances, fixtures, or trips are created and published
  • New events are added to the school calendar

Note: MIS imports, session events, and Parents' Evening events have separate notification processes.

2. Event Changes

You will be notified when event details are updated, including:

  • Time changes
  • Location changes
  • Date changes
  • Other relevant modifications

3. Performance and Fixture Participation

Notifications are sent when:

  • Your child is added to a performance or fixture
  • Fixture details change and staff choose to notify existing participants

Group Membership Notifications

4. Club and Group Addition

You will receive a notification when your child is added to a club or activity group.

Requirement: Counselling and curricular departments are excluded from these notifications.

Communication Notifications

5. Messages and Notes

You will receive notifications when teachers send messages to guardians. These communications may include:

  • Direct messages from staff
  • File attachments
  • Message threads and replies

Attendance Notifications

6. Absence Notifications

You will be notified when your child is marked absent from lessons.

Booking Notifications

7. Booking Acceptance

You will receive confirmation when CARE or other booking requests are accepted by the school.

Parents' Evening Notifications

8. Parents' Evening Invitations

You will receive notifications when:

  • A Parents' Evening is scheduled
  • The booking system opens
  • Booking window opening times are announced
  • Booking window closing times approach

Special Cases for Performing Arts

As a performing arts school, we have additional notification types specific to our programmes.

9. Performance Selections

You will receive special notifications when your child is selected for featured roles or solo parts in performances.

10. Trip-Related Notifications

For school trips, you will receive notifications regarding:

  • Trip scheduling and updates
  • Consent form reminders
  • Payment requests for trips

11. Payment Requests

You may receive payment request notifications for:

  • Costume costs
  • Venue hire
  • Other production expenses

Managing Your Notification Preferences

To adjust your notification preferences:

  • Log in to your parent portal
  • Navigate to Account Settings or Preferences
  • Select Notification Preferences
  • Choose which types of notifications you wish to receive
